An Israeli artist, Hanoch Piven has been delighting the world with his works for over 20 years now. It’s a potpourri of collage, graphic design and illustration with everyday objects and toys incorporated for that special accent that always seems to sit so well. In the end though, we seem to have a caricature – ideas expressed in such a simple, possibly even child-like manner that still carry an abundance of relevant, related, carefully picked and placed information and still remain so simple to be able to draw smiles on people’s faces. Never has such a mix of techniques been able to offer a more integrated final result. We feel sorry for that art historian who’ll eventually have to decide on the category in which to place Mr. Piven. “Make up a word!” – we say. Or call it installation, for now.
