State troopers identified the man who fell from a Mercedes convertible and was found dead on State Road 14 as 34-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Ramirez.
Troopers said Gonzalez-Ramirez was sitting on the rear deck of the convertible on Saturday afternoon when he fell onto the roadway. He was not using a seatbelt.
The convertible was passing another vehicle at the time. The driver fled after Gonzalez-Ramirez fell, troopers said.
It's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in Gonzalez-Ramirez falling.
Police are still looking for the driver and the car, which is a newer champagne colored Mercedes-Benz convertible.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday near milepost 18 on SR 14, which is just outside of Washougal.
