Real Madrid Corner: Getafe Match Preview (09/10/11)
Fresh off of a 6-0 trouncing of los zaragozanos in “La Romareda” in the 1st temporada, Real Madrid look for their 2nd La Liga win in this weekend’s capital city Derbi. Getafe heads into the Santiago Bernabeau with their new UAE management aka oil money. Dubai’s ruling Al-Maktoum family purchased the team in the off season and has big aspirations for this little club. In week 1, Getafe drew against little and apparently broke Levante (from Valencia) with a strike through the help of Venezuelan Miku’s goal. Levante had to get a late equalizer to salvage a point proving bittersweet for Getafe’s manager, Luis Garcia Plaza, since he’s managed Levante the last 3 seasons and is starting his first Getafe campaign. One can imagine Mourinho will have his squad fired up for this one since Barca has been taunting “los blancos” lately about their inability to lock down Brazilian starlet Neymar. Reports have claimed that Dani Alves has convinced him to come to the Catalonian capital in January and that they’re “best friends”.
Besides having a jersey sponsor (Burger King), which these days is quite uncommon in La Liga, Getafe also has a systematic 4-2-3-1 system anchored by Sarabia, Colunga, Diego Castro, and Miku. Dani Guiza, the gypsyman, has come back to La Liga after his stint at Fenerbache and is a highly talented player who loves to shine in big games. Expect him to beat Casillas once or twice but maybe not beat the entire post. It’ll be interesting to see if Guiza comes off of the bench again and when the new manager while try to insert Leon into the equation. Could it be against his current squad? The recent addition of Pedro Leon (from Madrid on Loan) should give an added boost but Madrid’s offensive prowess will still prove to be too much for the Mallorcan keeper, Moya.
The match is set for 2:00pmest on Saturday in the city (aka in the Bernabeau) at the big stadium where CR-7 will surely look for another hat trick. Getafe’s lineup will most likely be: Moya, Lopo, Diaz, Mane, Gomez, Lacen, Barrada, Rios, Rodriguez, Miku, Casquero/Guiza. RM looks to have: Casillas, Carvalho, Pepe, Marcelo, Ramos, Coentrao, Alonso, Ronaldo, DiMaria, Benzema/Kaka, and Ozil.
Hala Madrid!
