German tuner Piecha Design has introduced a new package for all SL R230 models starting at the March 2008 facelift. The might be a new SL coming soon to replace the aging beast, but there’s no reason that aftermarket specialists can’t breath new life into the current design to keep it relevant a bit longer.
The kit offers special build-in housings with LED daytime lights and the fog lamp. They can be sent to you in a ready built kit state and fit both the serial bumper and the AMG bumper of theSL63 and SL65. In addition, to set of the new look provided by the tuners can be emphasized
with a three-part front spoiler lip that offers a cool black bit in the middle, under the grille.
Piecha knows a thing or two about wheels, so they also offer new Piecha MP1 monoblock wheel rims in the front-polished titanium silky-gloss version. These are available in 9.5×20 with 255/30 R20 for the front, and at 11×20 with 305/25 R20 for the rear of the SL. The tuner says these wheels also match the Mercedes CLS models of the 219 and 218 series with the same tires, so we might see another project from them.
As you might have already noticed, the SL in the adjacent picture sits a bit differently. That’s because the car can be lowering springs (-30mm) for the coil-spring version or a Piecha-lowering module (-30mm).
The tuner has also hacked into the computers of the roadster, and you can now, so you can now open and close the roof at speeds of up to 60 km/h.
