Sum 41 have chucked more tour dates due to Deryck Whibley's health problems.
The Canadian pop-punkers have backed out of the Warped Tour and cancelled a quartet of Canadian shows — including a festival appearance at Winnipeg's Rock on the Range slated for this weekend — because of an injury Whibley suffered during an Aug. 12 gig in Boise, the band posted on their website.
"The injury that Deryck suffered last year after being assaulted at a bar in Japan has never fully healed and our demanding tour schedule has taken its toll on his body," their statement reads. "We hate cancelling shows, but Deryck's well being is our top priority and the best thing right now is to give him time to heal. Thank you for your understanding. We wish Deryck a quick recovery and look forward to getting back out on the road."
In addition to the Winnipeg gig, Canadian shows in Victoria, Edmonton and Lumsden, Sask., were cancelled.
The 31-year-old Whibley reportedly suffered a slipped disc and was hospitalized after a fight in a Japanese bar a year ago. Since then he's also had to cancel shows due to pneumonia.
